Hyesuk_5My inspiration:
Korean traditional art and culture, tapestry, textile design and fabrics.

My art history:
I studied design for two years before completing a bachelor of textile design at University of Ulsan in South Korea. I also delved heart and soul into Hanji craft, Korean paper work while in university. I taught art from kindergarten age to teenagers in private academies.

My favorite things:
Making clothes, color, fashion, discovering new food, travelling.

My story:
I am from Ulsan, South Korea. I travelled when I was in my twenties and discovered many different cultures and was inspired by the variety of textile arts of many countries. I want to share my country’s cultural heritage and in a way of my own fuse western influences into my art while keeping a distinct Korean esthetic. I have participated in the Pontiac Artists Studio Tour since 2013 with my husband, showing both my paper work and textile art. I have showed in group shows as well as taking part as a guest artist in local tours. My husband is a great support and we motivate each other in both our work and try to seek balance in our lives as much as possible.

My dream:
To travel and discover different cultures.
Making clothes, color, fashion, discovering new food, travelling.
