Janice Street’s painterly photographs take the viewer on a journey of discovery. They challenge the eye; engage the spirit. They speak to a layer of the world gone unnoticed by most. In Janice’s eye, life’s fleeting moments are more than what they were. Unrecognizable beauty flourishes; transformed into images that titillate the senses. “I am always looking ” explains Janice “I record fleeting moments in time, like a masterpiece of frost created by nature’s hand, gone as soon as the sun hits the window “.
Photography is a powerful tool for Janice. It allows her to fuse her passions for nature and light and composition. To create. To layer realities. To communicate without uttering a word.
Native to Ottawa, she received her Commercial Art diploma at Algonquin College in 1974. A graphic designer by trade, Janice combines her passion for photography with Graphic Design. She is inspired by design and detail. Her keen eye seeks out beauty, captures it and creates a window into her world for all to see.
