Stop 16 – Mary Pfaff Studio

I have always been fascinated with faces and figures.  For 27+ years I restored antique dolls and artifacts for museums, private collectors, and antique dealers.  Last year I made the decision to retire and concentrate on my own art work.

My favourite medium is pastel.  I love with the rich pigments and the way I can build shapes and textures.  I often combine pastel with charcoal, acrylic, graphite, or ink as underpainting, using sanded paper to accommodate all the layers.

I love painting and drawing people.  My hope is that they say something about what I find interesting and offer the viewer something they find interesting.  I love the story.

My goal is to keep learning.  I am so grateful to live in such an enriching environment surrounded by so much talent!

I share space with Mary Pfaff at her beautiful Studio, 15 Bridge Street, Almonte.  During the summer months, I am at my tiny studio on the shores of Georgian Bay.
