Virginia Ross

Virginia Ross

Virginia is an Ottawa Valley artisan who draws from her international experience as a child and her educational background to infuse her pieces with an organic flavour and a tasteful play of colours.

As the daughter of a diplomat, she grew up in Latin America and has also spent time in the United States and Europe.  She is the daughter and granddaughter of artists and her father cut and polished stones.  Virginia’s formal training is in Biology and Animal Care Technology but she now pursues her new passion for art and painted jewelry in her retirement.  She has no formal training in art but has taken a number of on-line tutorials.

She works with watercolour and coloured pencil, often combining the two mediums.  She is also trying her hand at alcohol inks.  She is fascinated by the diversity and beauty of nature’s many creations, and loves to paintanimals, birds, frogs, nudibranches and flowers.  Her jewelry can be found at The Gift Boutique in Almonte, The Herb Garden, and A Bunch of Whimsy in Carleton Place.  Her cards can be found at Peches et Poivre in Almonte and her earrings are at the Almonte Pharmacy.
